Ann Ryan is a UCD doctoral student on a work-based scholarship, funded by Irish Research Council. She is employed in the Tusla: Child and Family Agency as a Coordinator of Sexual Violence Services.

Her doctoral research focuses on adult disclosure of child sexual abuse and Irish statutory social work responses. Ann has worked with exploited children and sex trafficking in her role as child protection social worker in the UK. Her work with asylum seeking children spanned advocacy, with the Refugee Council, to co working with ECPAT on trafficking cases.

Work with the South African Gender Commission focused on female empowerment, while inclusion and participation were the focus with the Alberta Municipal Affairs, Legislative Team. She is a former member of the working group of a national survey of sexual violence with the Central Statistics Office.
