Lorraine is a lecturer in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice at Bangor University.

She completed her PhD at the University of Limerick in 2022 which examined the potential of the use of restorative justice in the aftermath of sexual violence in the Republic of Ireland and Ireland and presented a blueprint for the implementation of a scheme of post-release restorative justice conferencing for cases involving sexual violence in Ireland.

Her research interests include post-release responses to sexual violence, restorative justice, and criminological theories of sexual offending. She has published her research in journals such as the Irish Criminal Law Journal and the New Journal of European Criminal Law.
