Rosalyn Millar is an ESRC NINE DTP PhD Candidate in the School of Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast.

She is interested in exploring societal and cultural understandings of coercive control which shape practitioner and professional practice in the wake of Northern Ireland’s Domestic Abuse and Civil Proceedings Act (2021).

Rosalyn completed her MSc in Applied Developmental Psychology at Queen’s University which allowed her to explore domestic abuse survivor’s experiences of post-separation abuse.

Currently, Rosalyn is helping to produce policy briefs and research which offer recommendations on how professional practice can become more trauma informed. Rosalyn hopes that her PhD will lead her to developing interventions and training for professionals most likely to receive disclosures of domestic abuse. She hopes her research will lead to a more trauma informed practice with support for survivors and professionals alike.
