Rape Crisis Northern Ireland is a non-governmental organisation and support service for anyone who is 18 and over and has experienced serious sexual assault and rape in adulthood.
They are committed to ensuring their services are accessible regardless of disability, gender identity, social class, marriage and civil partnership, race, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.
Women’s Resource and Development Agency
WRDA works regionally to advance women’s equality & participation in society.
Commissioner for Victims of Crime
The Commissioner for Victims of Crime provides a voice for victims of crime in Northern Ireland. The office monitors criminal justice organisations to make sure victims of crime get their entitlements under the Victim Charter. It reviews how the Victim Charter works and is delivered within criminal justice organisations to improve how victims of crime get their entitlements.
Marie Collins Foundation
Tackling Technology-Assisted Child Sexual Abuse Supporting victims and survivors, empowering families and professionals, and driving change to tackle technology-assisted child sexual abuse (TACSA).
The Marie Collins Foundation works in a range of ways to ensure that at every level the needs of victims and survivors are at the forefront of all decision making. They achieve this by supporting children, young people and their families affected by technology-assisted child sexual abuse by working with them directly and indirectly.
Men’s Development Network
The Men’s Development Network (MDN), based in Waterford and operating nationally, is a pioneering organisation dedicated to promoting the engagement of men and boys on their health, wellbeing, gender equality and ending gender-based violence.
MDN supports men and boys using a developmental and transformative approach across five national programmes that focus on domestic violence intervention and victim support, Health education and training. Under the mission statement “Better Lives for Men; Better Lives for All,” MDN develops specific programmes and practices that are evidence-based and underpinned by a social justice and equality perspective. Whether working with men on a one-to-one level or in groups, these practices are informed by our channels of research and advocacy, which aim to inform policy.
Projects include the Men’s Health & Leadership Programmes, the MEND Domestic Violence Intervention Programme, the national Male Advice Line, and a Men’s Counselling Service. They are the coordinators for the White Ribbon Campaign in Ireland and coordinate and deliver the Engage National Men’s Health Training Programme in partnership with others.
Common Youth
Common Youth offers free, confidential sexual health and wellbeing services to under 25’s in Northern Ireland.
Move Ireland
Move – Men Overcoming Violence works in the area of domestic violence, with a primary aim of supporting the safety and wellbeing of women and their children who are experiencing, or have experienced violence/abuse in an intimate relationship.
MOVE does this by facilitating men in a weekly group process that involves them taking responsibility for their violence and changing their attitude and behaviour.
Dignity4Patients
Dignity4Patients is a patient support and advocacy organisation to support you. We work with people who have experienced sexual abuse or inappropriate sexual behaviour in a medical, healthcare, or therapeutic environment.
Rape Crisis Ireland
Rape Crisis Ireland (RCI) is a specialist information and resource centre on rape and all forms of sexual violence. They co-ordinate help, advocate for justice, and provide expert advice and research.
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre
Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) is an independent not-for-profit body that aims to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of sexual violence. We work to prevent sexual violence and to eliminate its tolerance in society through education, training and awareness-raising campaigns, as well as policy & research.
When sexual violence does occur, they offer a range of supports including telephone counselling through the freephone National 24-Hour Helpline 1800778888, one-to-one counselling, and accompaniment services. Webchat support is available for free online at drcc.ie, Mon-Fri, 10am-5pm. If English is not your first language, our Helpline Interpreting Service is available Mon-Fri, 8am-6:30pm, for free at 1800778888
Advocacy VSV
Advocacy VSV is based in the Newry and Mourne area and offer a support service to Victims of Sexual Violence living in the Southern Trust. (Dungannon, Armagh, Craigavon, Banbridge and Newry & Mourne).
Provided individuals are over 16 years old and regardless of gender and demographic characteristics they offer immediate and one-to-one emotional support, professional advice and guidance and signposting where required.
In working alongside statutory criminal justice bodies and voluntary services they provide information and advice on the Criminal Justice System, Health Services and on Victim’s Rights.
Raise Your Voice
Working collectively to tackle sexual harassment and sexual violence across Northern Ireland.
Our goal is to create true cultural change in order to tackle the root causes of these behaviors and empower people to act to change this in their own lives. We know that community safety begins with ending sexual harassment.
Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland
Women’s Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic abuse and providing services for women and children.
They exists to challenge attitudes, structures and systems which perpetuate domestic abuse and seek through their work to enable women, children and young people to live free from violence and abuse.
Victim Support NI
Victim Support NI is an independent charity which helps people affected by crime. They offer a free and confidential service, whether or not the crime has been reported, regardless of how long ago the crime took place.
Nexus
Nexus are the leading organisation within Northern Ireland supporting individuals impacted by sexual abuse and abusive relationships.
They provide support to anyone impacted by sexual abuse from age 8 and upwards. Anyone else impacted by abusive relationships/domestic abuse can access support via the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline on 0808 802 1414 or via dsahelpline.org.
Accompaniment Support Service for Children
Accompaniment Support Service for Children (A.S.S.C.) was set up in 2020 to address the needs of young people as they navigate their way through the Criminal Justice System. They provide accompaniment and advocacy for young people and their families at different stages through the justice system. A.S.S.C help ensure that this happens without re-traumatisation or re-victimisation and that young people are treated with compassion and dignity.
A.S.S.C. was set up as there was no dedicated service for children during what is often a stressful and overwhelming experience for young people and victim support is a right under both Irish and EU legislation. We are the only organisation in Ireland committed to safeguarding children during criminal proceedings, adhering to the guidelines of the Children’s First Act 2015.
Victim Support at Court
Victim Support at Court are a national organisation who specialise in the provision of court accompaniment to victims of crime, prosecution witnesses and their families while they attend court.
They support people of all ages who need to attend either the District, Circuit or Central courts for a criminal matter. They provide this service in all 26 counties of Ireland, and it is free and confidential.
The Rowan
The Rowan is the regional Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) for Northern Ireland. The service is jointly funded by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) and the Police Service for Northern Ireland (PSNI).
